Back, Hip, and Joint Pain Care for Women Navigating Perimenopause & Menopause

Private Physical Therapy for Active Women in Midlife

Personalized one-on-one care. No rushed visits.

You're doing everything right moving, eating well, pushing through and yet your body suddenly feels like it belongs to someone else. New aches. Stiff mornings. A back or a hip that won't cooperate. Activities you used to love now come with a price.

You're not imagining it, and you're not "just getting older." The drop in estrogen during perimenopause and menopause has a direct, physical effect on your joints, muscles, and mobility. It has a name the Musculoskeletal Syndrome of Menopause and it's treatable.

That's the only thing I do.

Meet Dr. Wina

Hi, I'm Dr. Wina Ambion — a Doctor of Physical Therapy and the founder of Westlake Physical Therapy & Wellness here in West Lake Hills.

For nearly 20 years, I've helped people move out of pain and back into their lives, with a background in orthopedic and sports physical therapy. But over time I noticed something the healthcare system kept overlooking: women in their 40s, 50s, and 60s arriving with real, worsening pain and stiffness and being told it was normal, or handed a prescription, or rushed through a 20-minute visit that never touched the root cause.

It wasn't in their heads. It was hormonal, physical, and fixable and almost no one was treating it that way.

So I built a practice that does. Westlake Physical Therapy & Wellness is dedicated entirely to women navigating perimenopause and menopause who want to reduce pain, move freely, and stay strong and active for the decades ahead.

I treat the whole picture, not just the sore spot.

Your low back, your hips, your energy, your strength, and your hormones are connected. We look at how this stage of life is actually affecting your body then build a plan around it.

One hour. One-on-one. Every time.

You work directly with me for a full session never handed off to an aide, never sharing my attention with two other patients. That's how we get results in fewer visits.

Movement is the medicine.

My goal isn't to keep you coming back forever. It's to give you the strength, mobility, and confidence to manage your body on your own for the long run.

You leave understanding your body.

I'll teach you why this is happening and exactly what to do about it, so you feel in control instead of at the mercy of your symptoms.

My Approach

My mission is simple: to help women move through midlife with less pain, more confidence, and the freedom to stay active for life.

Why Cash-Based?

Insurance-based PT often means 20 minutes shared across several patients, a plan capped by what your insurer will approve, and a rotating cast of aides doing the hands-on work.

I built Westlake differently. Going cash-based lets me give you my full attention for a full hour and follow the plan your body actually needs — not the one dictated by a benefits form.

Most women reach their goals in fewer, more focused visits, which often costs less in the end than months of rushed ones.

Your Questions, Answered

How long does a typical treatment last? Duration varies based on your condition and goals. After the initial assessment, we outline an estimated timeline and adapt it as you progress, ensuring each phase remains effective and realistic. Most women see meaningful change within the first few visits.

Do I need a doctor’s referral before starting therapy? In Texas, you can begin physical therapy without a referral, so we can start your evaluation and treatment right away. If your care reaches the point where a physician's sign-off is needed to continue, we handle that for you, we'll reach out to your doctor directly so there's no extra work on your end.

Is this pain just a normal part of aging? Not the way most people think. The joint pain, stiffness, and lost strength many women notice in their 40s and 50s are strongly linked to the drop in estrogen it's called the musculoskeletal syndrome of menopause. It's real, it's physical, and it responds well to the right movement and care.

I've tried physical therapy before and it didn't help. Why would this be different? Most PT isn't designed for a body going through hormonal change. Here you get a full hour, one-on-one with a doctor, and a plan built specifically around how perimenopause and menopause affect your joints, strength, and recovery not a generic protocol.

Do you take insurance?
We're a cash-based practice, which means no insurance restrictions, no visit limits, and no rushed appointments - just focused, one-on-one care. We provide a superbill you can submit for possible out-of-network reimbursement, and we accept HSA/FSA.

What happens at my first visit?
A thorough, unhurried evaluation - we'll look at your history, how menopause is affecting your body, and your goals, then build your personalized plan together. You'll leave understanding what's going on and what comes next.
